Why Melting Glaciers Matter to the Coasts
Learn about the difference between melting sea ice and land ice as they impact sea level rise
Client: National Park Service Climate Change Respone Program
This video demonstrates how melting land ice raises sea level, but melting sea ice does not. See how warming in far-away places like Antarctica matters to people on coasts world-wide. Teachers can repeat this demonstration with inexpensive materials.
I produced this video for the National Park Service Climate Change Response Program as a resource for teachers, park rangers and other educators to aide them in demonstrating the connection between melting land ice and global sea level rise. It explains, for example, why melting ice in the arctic may affect a person living in Louisiana.
